In a rained-out Gent-Wevelgem, Marlen Reusser rode herself into the history books. She was the first Swiss woman ever to win the one-day classic. She did so in inimitable fashion. In terrible conditions, she shook a solo of more than 20 kilometres out of her legs. After which she was able to cheer triumphantly with cramped arms in Wevelgem.
