Roxane Fournier is in her second year with Team SD Worx. The Frenchwoman is looking forward to the Tour de France. “This is a really important evolution in women's cycling. It means a lot to me. As a French rider, I have dreamt of riding 'Le Tour' ever since I was a child. It used to be idle hope. It is the biggest stage race in the world, so it's nice that there is finally a women's edition.”

For Fournier, her first year with Team SD Worx was above all a season in which she could learn. “This is the most professional team in the world. By riding with the strongest cyclists you get better yourself. We all ride with the same goal: to win races. Last year everything was new for me and I learned a lot. In 2022 I want to build on that and take new steps forward. I definitely want to win a race.”

Sporting director Danny Stam is also expecting the French rider to make progress. “Roxane had a difficult year adapting, but we are still convinced that she has the intrinsic qualities to make it to the top. She is a good rider who has no problem with taking a step back herself and doing what is best for the team.”

Fournier is convinced she can advance within Team SD Worx. “I am hoping to become tactically stronger here. This team always takes an aggressive approach. I think I can also contribute as part of a smaller group that escapes. My sprint is a weapon that can benefit the team in a tactical sense. I really believe that being around top athletes like Chantal Blaak, Demi Vollering, Blanka Vas, Amy Pieters and Elena Cecchini will help me to make progress.”
