A day after Lotte Kopecky and Lorena Wiebes created a one-two finish in the opening classic Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, Wiebes connected the dots in Omloop van het Hageland. The European champion rushed convincingly to victory after Team SD Worx controlled all day. "We wanted to make the race hard. Team SD Worx was super strong today. I'm glad I was able to finish the hard work."

At 35 kilometres, Arianna Fidanza & Linda Jackson went for the break ahead. The two riders worked well together, but at the back, Team SD Worx made sure everything came back together. Their attack was stranded with about seven kilometres to go. The signal for Floortje Mackaij to unleash her devils with 5.5 kilometres to go. "When Floortje attacked, we only had one person in front of the peloton with Femke Markus. She couldn't get the gap closed alone. Barbara Guarischi, Lonneke Uneken and Marlen Reusser came to her aid, so we still got the sprint we wanted," says winner Lorena Wiebes.

"Together they did huge work. But because of the chase, the positions of the lead-out train were no longer correct. Fortunately, the girls were able to pull through to the finish, putting me in perfect position. I am very proud of how strong the team was today. I like to ride to the line with a smaller group, that's why we made the race hard."

With the double win, Team SD Worx closes the opening weekend with a perfect report. "One and two in Omloop Het Nieuwsblad was already very special and also in Omloop van het Hageland we shot the main bullet. As a team, we can be happy with this. We can build on this," concluded the European champion.
