Numerical majority leads to places of honor in Trofeo Binda

Team SD Worx returned from the Trofeo Binda with a good feeling. In the third WorldTour race of the year, Chantal van den Broek-Blaak and Elena Cecchini finished fourth and fifth respectively. While world champion Elisa Bolsamo claimed victory in her home country, the team is disappointed that it was unable to catch the sprinters on the final lap.

"The course with the Orino climb is selective, but it turned out to be not selective enough to play off our numerical majority," says sports manager Danny Stam. "In the final we were with five riders in the first peloton of 23. Then it's a pity that you can't control the race on this course. After the last Orino climb we were strong with Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio and Chantal van den Broek-Blaak in a front group of six. But the teams of the sprinters were able to organise themselves and wipe out the lead."

Stam was satisfied with all six of his riders in the Trofeo Binda. Anna Shackley was attentive in the pre-final in a serious leading group. "Marlen Reusser again made a strong impression with several attack attempts and is starting to feel more and more at home in our tactical approach," said Stam. "Niamh Fisher-Black is growing towards her top form. Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio is proving herself to be one of the best after a strong Strade Bianche. While Chantal van den Broek-Blaak and Elena Cecchini rode an excellent final. You can see that Chantal's performance improves with each passing week. This performance in the Trofeo Binda gives a lot of confidence for the important month of April."
