RACE REPORT: SAMYN DES DAMES
Today’s Samyn Des Dames has been a hard race. At 12:20 the start signal was given for a race over 92,5 kilometers, known for its cobblestone sections.
For a long time, there was no break away, but the pace was set very high. Halfway, the peloton was split in two groups with all Team SD Worx riders present in the first group. With 25 kilometers to go five riders took an advantage with Jolien D’Hoore and Amy Pieters among them. But the pace in the peloton remains very high, and the five riders we’re caught quickly.
As all Team SD Worx riders doing a great job with trying to attack and counter other attacks, it seems the small group was getting ready for a bunch sprint.
With less than 5 kilometers to go, Jolien D’Hoore got a puncture and had to let go the group.
Amy Pieters sprinted to a sixth place and said after the race: “Today’s race was fast! As team we raced very active. After the puncture of Jolien we had to change plans quickly in to where I had to sprint. The result is a bit disappointed because we were so strong together as a team during the whole race. Which deserved a reward!”.
