Finally, an Amstel Gold Race after 2019’ edition
It will be a different race and scenery than we are used to over the last few years. Due to the pandemic, the organization is forced to hold the race on a shielded course as no spectators are aloud. Therefore, the peloton will race over a circuit of 17 kilometers which has to be done 7 times. Every lap includes the Geulhemmerberg, Bemelerberg and Cauberg.
Our line-up includes Anna van der Breggen, Chantal van den Broek-Blaak, Niamh Fisher-Black, Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio, Anna Shackley and Demi Vollering. Both Anna van der Breggen (2017) and Chantal van den Broek-Blaak (2018) managed to win this race before!
Demi Vollering, who became second in the Brabantse Pijl last Wednesday, admits: “I’m definitely in a good shape and I’m really looking forward to the next races. Normally I don’t like circuits that much, but as this is a hard circuit, I will like this year’s Amstel Gold Race. This race is really beautiful, also as it is in Holland. Special that It will take place this year! Hopefully I can win in it once!”.
Sports Director Danny Stam adds: “I predict a pretty hard edition of the Amstel Gold Race. Due to the course, where the hills are quickly followed behind each other, and so all riders want to be at the front of the peloton. We have a strong line-up with a mix of experienced riders and youngsters."
