Team SD Worx keen to continue good start of the season in Trofeo Alfredo Binda

18/03/2022

With 3 wins and a total of 8 top-3 places, Team SD Worx has not missed its start. With the Trofeo Binda, the third Worldtour race of the season is coming up. After earlier wins in the Strade Bianche and a podium finish in Drenthe, SD Worx starts with confidence in Italy. "This is one of my big goals. We will try to dominate the race and make it as hard as possible," said Elena Cecchini.

For Elena Cecchini, the Trofeo Binda is an important goal. "This is one of my favorite races. It's special to race in my home country, with my family along the road. Within the team, there are a little less girls who ache for this race, which makes it easier to raise my hand and designate this course as one of my big goals."

"In the past I rode some good results in Binda, but the win is missing. I am living towards the Trofeo with more confidence than last year. Before the season, together with Danny Stam and Anna van der Breggen, we decided to adjust my training a bit and ride more races as a preparation. As a result, I now have more race rhythm and speed," said the Italian.

I am already living towards the Trofeo with more confidence than last year. The race suits me and it is one of my goals this year.

The Trofeo Alfredo Binda suits me. It's always a hard race and depending on the weather you get a very different course. Together with the Strade Bianche, it is the first race with 2,000 altimeters, so the climber types also have a chance. Why do I love this race? Because of the unpredictability. The race can end in a group sprint, but a solo attack can also be the decisive move. The last climb to Orino is often decisive. My form is good. The Trofeo is a big goal for me and it gives me confidence to start with such a strong team," Cecchini concluded.

Sporting manager Danny Stam: "We will be competing for the win again"

Sporting manager Danny Stam is pleased with his team's season start. "We got off to a good start. This is a nice race, a difficult race on a course that looks a bit like a World Cup course. We start with a motivated strong group of riders. Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio already showed in the Strade Bianche that she was good. Chantal van de Broek-Blaak finished second in the past and Elena Cecchini is also very keen to do well. Everywhere we started this season, we took the race in hands. So we will definitely be competing for the podium again in Italy."
