Only a few days after the Simac Ladies Tour the Ceratizit Challenge by la Vuelta (7-11 September) is on the programme. Team SD Worx will travel to the WorldTour race in Spain with Marlen Reusser, Lotte Kopecky, Anna Shackley, Niamh Fisher-Black, Blanka Vas and Demi Vollering. "It is a hard course, hence this competition serves as an ideal benchmark for the World Championships in Wollongong," said sporting director Danny Stam.

On September 7 the Ceratizit Challenge by la Vuelta will start as the last WorldTour stage race before the World Championships in Wollongong in Australia. "If you finish this race, you know immediately how you stand. With Niamh Fisher-Black, Anna Shackley and Demi Vollering a few riders return to competition after they had to leave the Tour of Scandinavia with an injury after a crash. We have a very strong team going to Spain and I hope for more than a stage win," Stam said.

One of the spearheads is Demi Vollering, who is riding her first race since she crashed out in Scandinavia. Vollering: "I had to take it easy for a fortnight, but in the meantime I can go full gass ahead in training. My form was excellent. Normally, you don't lose that in a fortnight. The legs feel good again in training, but of course we have to wait and see how that will be in a race."

"This is a race where our team can perform well," Vollering continued. "There are some tough stages in the Ceratizit challenge. Marlen Reusser finished second in this race last year. Blanka Vas recently showed in Plouay that she is in good shape. And Lotte Kopecky is a rider to be reckoned with at all times. She will be super motivated."

According to Vollering, the Ceratizit Challenge is an excellent preparation for the World championships. "This is the ideal warming up. A five-day stage race at this point in the season is perfect and the course is challenging. It is important to do a good team time trial on the first day and preferably pick up some time there. With Marlen Reusser we already have an important weapon for the TTT. She will certainly have her sights set on it," concludes Vollering.
