Team SD Worx for training at Costa Blanca

11 January 2021

Team SD Worx has settled in Denia for their first training camp in preparation for the upcoming season.

During the first two days, the women of Team SD Worx, the best women’s cycling team in the world, completed their last aerodynamic tests on the cycling track in Valencia. This was followed up by two photo and video days. Due to the bad weather conditions in Spain, the first training sessions were completed on Tacx trainers and athlete meeting with the staff. The long training sessions through the area on the Costa Blanca BEGAN on January 10th.

Only the British Anna Shackley was unable to travel to Spain due to travel restrictions from the United Kingdom, making the team with thirteen riders almost complete. Team SD Worx, staff included, resides in a team bubble, entirely according to the Covid-19 rules of the international cycling union UCI.

Sports manager Danny Stam is satisfied with the building of Team SD Worx for 2021: “This is an international team with a lot of great riders, so we must be able to fight for the victories. The second line has become much better. With these athletes we are ensuring that we are more widely represented in the finals and that we have more available tactics to use.”

Anna van der Breggen will be wearing both rainbow jerseys this season, as she became World Champion in Imola on both road and individual time trial. Her ambition are the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2021, where she will defend her title on the road, but also wants to fight for the medals in the time trial. “The Olympics are an important goal, but I will also try to enjoy my last season as a cyclist. Next year I will take on my new role as sports director of this team”, says Van der Breggen. "We have a new main sponsor and a strong team for the coming season, with which we will achieve many good results!"

As new main sponsor, SD Worx is proud now the team is wearing their logos on the kits.  “We stand behind the cycling team as one team and look have a lot of ambitions for the upcoming season. It is no coincidence that SD Worx, as a leading provider of people solutions, chose to sponsor the number 1 women's cycling teams in recent years. Just like in HR and payroll, cycling brings talent, technology and teams together to take on the toughest challenges - in life and at work. Together with the team, our customers and employees, we are looking forward to many victories this season, ”said Kobe Verdonck, CEO of SD Worx.
