Christine Majerus second at first stage Tour de Yorkshire

3 May 2019

Christine Majerus finished second behind Lorena Wiebes during stage 1 of the 2019 Tour de Yorkshire.

We saw very bad weather today which we took with us from Liege Bastogne Liege. It was raining and cold from the start. After 10 km there was a breakaway from 6 girls, they stayed in the lead all day. The team made a good lead-out for Christine Majerus who finished after Lorena Wiebes on the second place.

"It was important to stay warm today. The breakaway went without any dangerous riders in it, so that was oke for us. We stayed focussed when Trek tried to break away in the last 30km, with attacks one after eachother. In the final the girls rode well to keep me out of trouble. Amy did the final lead-out which was great. It was a little bit too long for me but I am happy with second place behind the strong Wiebes. tomorrow is supposed to be a pretty hard day so we hope we can do another great day with the team." According to a highly motivated Christine Majerus.
