Boels-Dolmans Cycling Team is proud to announce that Anna Plichta will join the team in 2018. Plichta is a late addition to the team and completes the 2018 roster of Danny Stam’s team. The 25-year-old rider from Poland comes over from WM3 Pro Cycling and BTC City Ljubljana before that.
“I'm so proud that I will join the best team in the world,” Plichta said. “I look up to all Boels-Dolmans riders and I will be their teammate next year.”
Plichta is the second new signing of Boels-Dolmans for 2018. Last month, the Dutch-registered team signed 19-year-old American cyclist Skylar Schneider after Kasia Pawlowska had expressed her wishes to transfer to another team. A second spot opened up as Nikki Brammeier will leave Boels-Dolmans in 2018 as well.
Sports director Stam is thrilled to welcome Plichta to the team. “I think that Anna Plichta is a great person to have in our team, but more importantly, I believe she is a strong rider. I hope she will be able to show her potential and that she’ll be an important contribution to our team.”
Stam reached out to Plichta early November to gauge her interest. Plichta had already committed to represent Lensworld-Kuota in 2018 before the Belgian team folded at the end of last month. Plichta is known for her attacking racing style and is a true team player, so Stam didn’t hesitate to contact her when he was looking for a new rider.
“I was very surprised to get this offer, because it was very late in the year and almost all teams were already full,” Plichta said. “I was very excited, but also a little apprehensive. I had just experienced that you cannot really be sure to have a team before you signed a contract. But everything was quickly and easily arranged. It was truly a last call, also for team managers to finalise their rosters for 2018.”
For Plichta, joining Boels-Dolmans is like a dream come true. “When I was younger, I followed women’s cycling and I always looked up to Boels-Dolmans,” she said. “Later I would also ride against them in races, but next year we will work together. It will be such a pleasure to race with these girls and to be their teammate.”
“I hope to be strong enough to contribute to the best team results,” Plichta concluded. “Boels-Dolmans offers such a big opportunity for me, so I’m very motivated to work hard. I really believe that I have an amazing season ahead of me. I’m looking forward to it very much.”
