Boels-Dolmans brings strong team to Women's WorldTour opener
28 February 2018Boels-Dolmans Cycling Team brings a strong team to the Women's WorldTour opener this weekend. The epic Strade Bianche in Italy, with its gravel roads, has been the opening race of the most important race series in women's cycling for the past two years. Boels-Dolmans brings the two winners of the overall Women's WorldTour to Italy with Megan Guarnier and Anna van der Breggen. World champion Chantal Blaak will also take to the start line. They will be supported by Christine Majerus, Jip van den Bos and Karol-Ann Canuel.
"I am really looking forward to Strade Bianche," said Guarnier. "It is a great race for me to have as my first race back, because it is a race I really love."
Guarnier's return in the peloton comes after recovering from a jaw injury she sustained at the 2017 World Road Championships in Bergen, Norway. Unfazed and motivated as ever, Guarnier is happy tp be back in the game. "I just want to get back into the rhythm of racing and have some fun in a race I love!"
Boels-Dolmans brings a strong team to the Strade Bianche and a strategy is not yet determined. "Having a strong team like Boels-Dolmans at Strade will allow us to use many tactics," Guarnier explained "With this team, we can play to our strengths in many different scenarios."
"I'm not sure of our race plan as of now," Guarnier continued. "But I'm looking forward to getting out there and racing hard. Strade Bianche always presents challenges both from a tactical standpoint and the terrain, so I look forward to another hard edition."
