Amy Pieters wins final stage Women's Tour

15 June 2019

Amy Pieters wins stage 6 of the The Women's Tour and crowns this great week with a third place in GC. Great work by the team with three wins and Christine Majerus who finished fourth in the GC and second in the KOM classification.
Danny Stam looks back at todays race and the past week. "Together with some other teams we tried to make it a hard race right from the start. A break away was established with eleven riders including Chantal Blaak. That was good for our strategy, we had some more options. Just after the climb the break-away was caught. Some rest set into the pack. After the climb we chose to play Amy for the sprint. Christine took a bonification second underway to pass Demi Vollering in the GC. In the final the team made a perfect lead-out for Amy with a strong Christine in the last 500 meters. Amy finished strong and crowned the hard work by the team by winning the stage. That meant win number three in the women's tour which was a real good race by the team with: 3 days KOM jersey, 3 days pink jersey
3 stage wins, 2nd in team classification, 2nd in KOM jersey and
2nd in green jersey."
